WULF, an acronym for Washington University League of Freethinkers, is a newly formed group of secular humanists on campus whose motto is "don't be a sheep, be a WULF". As Andrea replants Wash U's One Voice chapter, she is leading students by following Jesus into the places on campus that Christians typically avoid. WULF is one of them.
At the first WULF meeting Andrea attended, the students were celebrating National Blasphemy Day by eating a cake decorated with the image of Mohammad. For the next meeting, everyone was instructed to bring their best argument for the existence of God. The WULF leaders would then refute everyone's arguments.
It's not hard to see why Christians would want to avoid this place. But convinced that God wants to make himself known to even the seemingly most hostile students, Andrea has persevered to build relationships with the students here. In fact, she has invited Christian students from One Voice to join her.
The amazing thing is that despite how hostile the WULF students may appear at times, they really like having Andrea around! After finding out the WULF students were looking for service opportunities, Andrea asked if they would be interested in partnering with One Voice to do service and they said yes (just as long as they didn't have to pass out bibles they said!). Last weekend, Andrea & a couple of One Voice students went with leaders from WULF to serve at a nursing home. The service project led to an unexpected dinner invitation with the WULF students. During the 2 hour dinner, Andrea asked the students to share their stories or "testimony's of unfaith" if you will. They in turn asked Andrea to share her testimony. It became evident to Andrea that while these students confess unbelief, they are also saddened by that fact. Andrea doesn't know where this road will lead, but God is clearly opening doors for her to build relationships with WULF. Pray that God would be made known here!
