Last year, we started planting a ministry specifically for sorority and fraternity students on campus. We had a great response, ending the year with 50+ students involved in one of our bible studies. So far this year, we've begun to solidify a core team - Greek students who are committed to their Christian faith and have a desire to reach their brothers and sisters.
We hosted a Greek mixer where students from different sororities and fraternities got to know one another better. Seeing them step away from superficial chatter to honestly engage one another on issues of life and faith was incredibly refreshing. Joy, one of last year's "founding" members shared her spiritual journey with the group. She grew up in a Chrisitan home but always took it for granted. Once Joy joined Kappa Kappa Gamma her freshman year, she found it difficult to meet other Christians. She spoke about living life for herself and not thinking of others her first two years at UC. Then she heard of Greek IV starting, went to a bible study, and kept coming back. It took Joy a while to realize that even though her sorority sisters didn't think of her as a Christian before, she could still make the choice to live her life differently now. God is always giving us opportunities to follow him! Joy now co- leads a bible study in Kappa and invites others into experiencing God's love and grace.
