Listening to God's Voice

Meet Jordan. He saw a sign that read "looking for Christian men" at an InterVarsity table and stopped by.  "I don't usually go this way," he said, when he met Alex, the staffworker.  "But today, I felt like God was nudging me in this direction and then I saw your sign."  Jordan has since joined an InterVarsity small group where we study scripture together and talk about it's application for our lives.  A couple weeks ago, we looked at Jesus' teaching about the lamp on stand.  Lamps aren't meant to be put under a bowl or bed (that would be ridiculous!) - they're meant to be placed on a stand where they can shine and give light for all to see.  From that passage, we talked about when it looks like to be like that lamp - letting light shine generously, undiscriminately, upon those around us.

Read on for how Jordan responds...
Jordan shared about how he often feels God nudging him to stop and talk to others as he's walking on campus, but how he often wants to ignore that nudge.  So as his application, he was going to pay attention to that nudge and respond.  The following week, Jordan met Mason at a bus stop.  He was going to walk on by, but felt God prompting him to stop and ask how Mason was doing.  To his surprise, Mason shared that he was going through a hard time and was just praying for Jesus to help him!  Jordan listened to Mason, shared about the hope he had in Jesus, and asked if that was something Mason wanted too.  Mason's response: "Yes!"
