Esther & Kale gave a huge push to students at the start of November: lets start investigative bible studies (Groups Investigating God) with the non-Christians you know as one act of loving the campus. As a result, 12 students have taken the plunge & asked their friends to be in GIGs with them. Several GIGs have sprung up around campus and students are getting together to pray for their friends during the week. These steps of risk taking have been largely led by the freshman & sophomore class. I love how God often likes to work through the "underdogs".
Thanks-GIG-ing month kicked off with a training in how to lead GIGs. During the training, students were asked to make a list of friends they could invite to their GIG. Centennial, one of the sophomores, looked up at Esther and said she didn't know of any non-Christians to invite! Esther looked back and said, "That's ok, let's pray that you meet some folks this next week." A few days later Centennial found Esther and asked "How many people is too many for a GIG?" God had apparently brought some folks across Centennial's path - five to be exact! She asked these folks if they wanted to be in an investigative bible study with her to learn more about Jesus and they all said "yes"!

Personally, I'm struck with how much this chapter has grown in risk-taking and loving the campus. Students risking time and possible rejection to invite others to see more of Jesus has been one of the most beautiful pictures of ministry this semester.
